Best of you

42. "The best of people in recitation are those who when they recite, you see that they fear Allah." [Bayhaqi, Sahîh]

Quotes to remember

20. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “He who is victorious over his passion at the time of anger is the strongest among you. He who forgives having the power to release (his anger and take revenge) is the most patient among you.” (a-Baihaqi in Shu’ab al-Imaan)

Salafs sayings

It is reported that Imām Al-Zuhrī – Allāh have mercy on him – said:

Those of our scholars who went before us used to say,”Adherence to the Sunnah is salvation, but knowledge is taken away quickly, so the revival of knowledge means the stability of religion and worldly affairs, and the loss of knowledge means the loss of all that.”

Al-Lālakā`ī, Sharh Usūl I’tiqād Ahl Al-Sunnah article 136

The Purpose of Reading the Qur'aan is to Contemplate and Apply it

Question:

If one reads the Qur'aan well - all praise is due to Allaah - is it better for him to recite often or should he listen to famous reciters on audio cassette, for example?
Answer:

What is better for him is to do what is better for his heart and what will have more effect on it. Because the purpose of recitation is to reflect and understand the meanings of the Qur'aan and to act according to what Allaah Almighty has ordered in it, as He said:
ßöÊóÇÈñ ÃóäÒóáúäóÇåõ Åöáóíúßó ãõÈóÇÑóßñ áøöíóÏøóÈøóÑõæÇ ÂíóÇÊöåö æóáöíóÊóÐóßøóÑó ÃõæúáõæÇ ÇáúÃóáúÈóÇÈö

(This is) a Book(the Qur'ân) which We have sent down to you, full of blessings that they may ponder over its Verses, and that men of understanding may remember. [Sad 38:29] He also said:

Åöäøó åóÜÐóÇ ÇáúÞõÑúÂäó íöåúÏöí áöáøóÊöí åöíó ÃóÞúæóãõ

Verily, this Qur'ân guides to that which is most just and right [Al-Isra 17:9]

and:

Þõáú åõæó áöáøóÐöíäó ÂãóäõæÇ åõÏðì æóÔöÝóÇÁ

Say: "It is for those who believe, a guide and a healing. [Fussilat 41:44]
