Not Throwing Away Magazines That Contain Pictures

 


Question:

As a high school student, I like to read, that is why I subscribed to Islamic, cultural, and military magazines. Most of these magazines, though, have pictures of people in them. I keep these magazines in a special room - is this permissible?
Answer:

There is no harm in keeping beneficial books and magazines, even if they contain some pictures. But if there are pictures of women, you must obliterate them. And if there are pictures of men and animals, then you must obliterate only the head, keeping in accordance with the authentic Hadiths regarding this issue.
