Quotes to remember

13. Ibn Qutaybah said that his disputant said to him, “What is the matter with you?” He replied to him, “I will not dispute with you.” The disputant then said, “Thus you have come to know that I am right.” Ibn Qutaybah responded, “No, but I respect myself more than that.” At this the disputant retracted and said, “And I will not claim a thing that is not my right.”

Salafs sayings

Killing Insects in Ones Home

Question:

May we kill insects in our homes, insects such as ants and cockroaches, using fire, and if not, what should we do?
Answer:

If these insects are harmful, you should not kill them using fire, but using insecticides. The Messenger of Allaah said, There are five animals that are all Fawasiq and should be killed while not in Ihram and while in Ihram: the crow, the kite (a kind of bird), the scorpion, the mouse, and the ferocious dog. [1] In another narration, the Messenger of Allaah mentioned six, the sixth one being the snake. The same ruling applies to other harmful animals, such as cockroaches and ants: you may kill them, but donýt kill them using fire; rather you should use insecticides. And with Allaah is the facilitation to do what is right.
